How’s your holiday shopping going? Are you nearly done? I thought it might be too late in the game to share my thoughts on one of the holiday limited edition palettes from Tarte but it is SO good I thought I’d tell you about it anyway.
I’ve had this palette for some time now – I know, shame on me for not telling you about it sooner – and I’ve loved everything about this one!
The Tarte Puttin on the Glitz palette is unique because it features three interchangeable palettes (Girls Night Out, Nine to Five and Walk in the Park) that include a total of eighteen eyeshadows, a highlight powder, bronzer and blush – one face product per palette (and when you find out the price it’s going to blow your mind!).
Each of the three palettes are housed in a metallic faux python “wallet.”
The palettes snap easily into a bigger metallic faux python zippered carrying case.
The zippered case looks like this once a palette is inserted. It includes a place for credit cards and a small mirror.
This is the Girls Night Out palette snapped into the zippered case.
On their own, the palettes are out of this world good. But when you add that they’re housed in a festive metallic faux python case which you can then pop into a metallic zip up carrying case (complete with chain link shoulder strap and a place to insert credit cards) it makes a pretty spiffy gift.
Tarte shadows are extraordinary. Shadows are well saturated, pigmented, wear beautifully and blend (and layer) very well. The face products (bronzer, highlighter and blush) are equally stellar. As far as reviews go, I have nothing bad to say about the Puttin on the Glitz collection
The Girls Night Out palette includes a shimmering highlight powder.
Girls Night Out swatches. The textures are amazing however, the more glittery shades were less pigmented (but only by a tad) and had a small amount of fall out. I don’t find myself wearing these shades as often (the fifth – a mauve/taupe – and sixth shades however are spectacular!) as the others but it’s still a wonderful palette..
The highlight shade in the Girls Night Out palette is on the far right, a pretty yellowed champagne. The texture is gorgeous and it leaves a soft highlight (and a soft shimmer with no glitter) to cheeks or as a brow highlighter.
The Nine to Five palette. I keep reaching for this one again and again!
The Nine to Five palette includes the prettiest pink-peach Amazonian clay blush. Adore!
There is nothing but glorious rich color and texture with the Nine to Five palette (that’s the blush blended out on the far right). I’ve created multiple looks with this one and I don’t think I’m done either.
This palette includes the ever popular Park Avenue Princes bronzer!
My second favorite palette from the collection, Walk in the Park is a pretty neutral palette with intense color saturation and a mix of textures..
Also included is click-pen lipgloss. The minty flavor leaves a slight tingle to the lips (no plumping effect that I could detect) and a soft, non-sticky neutral rose shade.
For the price, you can’t beat this palette! Even if you’re not a fan of the zippered carry case (I like it fine but probably won’t use it much) the palettes themselves are an exceptional and beautiful buy.
Availability: Ulta (limited edition)
Price: $48US (amazing, right?!)
4/5 Smooches: I’m loving the old Hollywood vibe and the color palettes…fantastic!
I’m nearly done with my shopping and should pick up my last few items today but just discovered a Helen Mirren series (a short one) called Painted Lady. With a name like Painted Lady, you know my beauty blogger curiosity was peaked.

I returned today from an extended weekend with my family in Oregon. It was wonderful to spend time with them. The moment I came home I began the process of unpacking; tucking away toiletries, shoes, accessories and of course, moving our worn clothes into the wash.
All mundane, mindless work really. And in this mode of tidying and puttering I realized how grateful I was to be home. To have my pups sleeping happily in their respective spots, hubby doing his thing and our home warmly embracing us with our return.
Life is good…
As I prepared my vanity for the week (oh how I missed my good lighting these past few days!), I quietly gave thanks for every beautiful item I’m so lucky to possess and carefully placed each one in it’s featured spot for the week…
There’s nothing about this Too Faced French & Fabulous palette that doesn’t make me giddy. It’s from the 2009 holiday collection but you can still find it on ebay, and other places. Hubby calls this bold silver necklace my “olympic” piece because of the five circles…he’s a comedian!
Have you sampled Tom Ford’s new fragrance, Violet Blonde? I am hooked!
I’ve been wanting to try the Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place cream shadows. These are brand spanking new so I’m anxious to see how they perform. And, if you’ve never tried Tarte blushes give them a go. The shades never disappoint.
I’ve been very impressed with the Anastasia line and this palette is no exception. The open jar is a loose pigment from Inglot…it is an incredible shade, #85.
I couldn’t resist showing you a close up of the Inglot duochrome (a dark plumy brown with flashes of green and blue) pigment…agh!!
Rock & Republic is more than just pretty packaging (honestly, it’s some of the most beautiful packaging around). It’s not as easy to get your hands on as it once was but if you have the chance to pick up blushes from the line I encourage you to do so. This is a shot of Immoral which looks super bright (well, it is) but goes on beautifully (light hand required).
It’s not glamorous, but with the colder weather my eyes have been super dry. Refresh natural tears to the rescue! Oh, and these are Deborah Lippmann polishes, Purple Rain and Believe (which was created in collaboration with Cher…gotta love that!).
Whether drugstore, mid-range, high end makeup or a mix of all, each item puts a smile on my face and brings me joy. I know makeup won’t solve the world’s problems but they sure can make my troubles disappear – if only for a brief moment – and offer me a reason to remember to give thanks…

Created for super natural beauties or vampy vixens, the Tarte for True Blood Collection was designed to take a gal from dawn to dusk. I posted a full review of the True Blood eyeshadow palette and now want to reveal the mysteries of the other two pieces from the collection; the Natural Cheek Stain and LipSurgence Lip Tint.
Limited Edition Glamour Me Natural Cheek Tint, $30 (1 oz)
I’ve noticed that no matter how pale a vamp is they’re always made up with a slightly flushed cheek and blood stained lips. I mean, dead or alive a gal craves an everlasting glow…am I right? Well vixens, meet your maker! The True Blood collection includes a Glamour Me natural cheek tint in a sparkly, sheer red.
The cheek tint is housed in a push up from the bottom cylinder (like the old push up ice cream bars) and has a light fruity aroma that smells heavenly (it’s not called natural for nothing as it contains mineral pigments and fruit extracts)…you don’t notice the aroma once applied however. Because this is a sheer product, you may want to layer another blush on top or dust with translucent powder to set.
Note that there is a significant amount of glitter. I’m not a fan of glitter on my face but somehow this works. It is not chunky or gritty and once applied to cheeks (fingers or a sponge work great with this product) the glitter spreads out along the cheek – like a sprinkling of fairy dust – versus settling as a dense cluster of glitter on skin.
Limited Edition LipSurgence Lip Tint, $24 (.10 oz)
Like the cheek tint I was surprised at the sheer rosy red, love at first bite taste tint. The lip tint wears for about three hours on me, feels hydrating on the lips (thanks to jojoba oil) and has a minty aroma and taste. My only regret is that it didn’t come with a sharpener – the vamps on True Blood may not need to sharpen their fangs but us mere mortals we need a way to do our chubby lip pencil sharpening bidding!
Now I could glamour you into picking up this collection but it would be best if you made your way to Ulta or Sephora before the next turn…
Are you a fan of True Blood? Who is your favorite character?
❤Liz
P.S. Both products are formulated with no mineral oil, no parabens, no sodium lauryl sulfate, no synthetic fragrance, no phthalates and is cruelty free.
3/5 Smooches: There isn’t anything holy about this duo but they’re
guaranteed to show you a wickedly good time

If you read my What’s On My Vanity post this past Monday you know I’ve only recently joined the True Blood party. I couldn’t figure out what all the commotion was about but by the episode where Eric cut off his hair, I was a fan of the fang!
Tarte must be a True Blood fangatic because they launched a Tarte for True Blood collection.
The True Blood collection palette features a mix of seventeen matte, shimmer and glitter eyeshadows, and a secret open after dark compartment buried in a pull out drawer that includes a lid primer, mascara and waterproof eyeliner. A push up cheek tint, and chubby lip tint pencil complete the glamtaculour collection.
I love how vampy the outside of the padded palette looks with the black and red corset appearance – I like to think Tarte was paying homage to Pam…the vampiest of the vamps, and my personal favorite. The palette is sturdy with it’s magnetic closure and the built in mirror makes this a good choice for travel.
The shadows are extraordinary. They’re buttery smooth, have beautiful pigment, are easy to blend, and layer and have the longevity of a thousand year old vamp. Of the seventeen shades included, there is not one you wouldn’t want to sink your teeth into.
Although there are a few shades that appear glittery in the palette (Moss and Noctural, for example), the glitter is very subtle once blended onto the lid. Of the five matte shades, all are surprisingly smooth and not chalky like many matte textures (and the undead) tend to be. I’ve no doubt the Amazonian clay is what gives these shadows their luscious pay off.
Tarte added a few extra items to tempt you like a mini eyelid primer (the Firmitol in this product makes it look like I’ve had a lid lift when I use it!), mini Lights Camera Lashes mascara in black (one of my mascaras of choice) and a dark as night aqua eyeliner in black that is bulletproof and sweat proof – I bet the dancers at Fangtasia swear by this liner.
If “V” were a makeup item then it would be this trio of tasty staples…you’ll definitely be back for full sizes.
Vixen, Waitress, Vamp or Fairy, which look will you choose? The eye chart is included and was created by the award-winning True Blood makeup artist Brigitte Ellis – Tarte thought of everything!
The True Blood palette ($52 available at Ulta, Sephora and tarte.com) is good enough for vamps, fairy’s, were’s and everyday goddesses like you and me
