Blue Shadow a Makeup Don’t? Not with Chanel Les 4 Ombres in Lagons

posted by Liz |@beautyblkbook

Have you noticed the number of brands embracing blue for fall? Instead of traditional black or deep neutrals used to create a smokey eye we’re seeing blue as the shade of choice for eye drama.

I say drama because the blue’s we’re seeing for fall aren’t the circa 1970’s flower child blue or the Mimi (from the Drew Carey show) blue most of us think about when the topic of blue eyeshadow is on the table.

Nope.  This fall, the blues are classy, alluring and dare I say…HOT!

When I picked up the Chanel Les 4 Ombres in Lagons from the Sophisticated Eye collection, I wasn’t sure how Chanel would interpret blue and happily, they do good blue.

I can’t tell you how impressed I am with the quality of the two quads from the Sophisticated Eye collection (you can read my review on Vanités – the purple quad – here).

Like Vanités, Lagons shadows are smooth and creamy in texture, apply and blend easily and are well pigmented.

On my skin, I found the blues in Lagons to have a slight lavender/lilac cast.  The quad includes a shimmery ice blue, a shimmery medium slate/denim blue, a midnight blue with subtle sparkle, and a periwinkle blue with sparkle.

Swatched on bare NC20-25 skin

While the shades contain either shimmer or subtle sparkle, it isn’t ostentatious – they offer just enough pizzazz without inching anywhere near tacky.

If you love the idea of a sophisticated blue eyeshadow look or you thought blue shadow was strictly for circus performers, you may want to stop by your nearest Chanel counter and have a look.

Availability: Chanel.com and most chanel counters

Price: $57

      Hi Ava!

I haven’t seen Blue Celeste in person – only photos – but they looked different enough. The dark blue in the Lagons palette is gorgeous!!
