Trip the Light Fantastic with NARS Grand Palais

posted by Liz |@beautyblkbook

If you’ve been following this blog you know that I’m new to the NARS line.  I know, I know, hard to believe that a makeup maven such as myself would only now venture into the world of Lé NARSissist.

I’m not sure what I was waiting for because the first item I picked up is quite impressive.

For my first twirl with NARS, I chose the eyeshadow duo from their fall 2011 collection, Grand Palais – a modern, well pigmented, crease resistant silvered taupe (with hints of grey, brown and silver) and medium dusty rose.

While playing with this classic yet unusually edgy duo I discovered something…I am hopelessly in love with the color taupe! Who knew that my stumble down the rabbit hole would reveal such a personal truth?

It goes to show that a color epiphany can occur when you least expect it ;-)

The taupe in Grand Palais has just the right amount of shimmer (no glitter or sparkle) to make it hip and a texture that feels and applies extremely smoothly.

I found the pairing of taupe and dusty rose (a matte, easy to work with, dusty rose with a hint of brick red) a gorgeous combination.

Both shadows are easy to work with however, while I can sometimes get away without a primer, I found the intensity of the shadows were enhanced with a primer.

The only negative experience I can site is in the packaging.  NARS compacts are made of a black rubberized material that look sleek but are a hot mess to keep clean!  A minor issue I realize, but one worth noting…

Overall, NARS did not disappoint and is definitely going on my dance card.

Do you have any must-have products from NARS I should explore?
