What’s On My Vanity…
Like an emotional barometer, each item of makeup I place on my vanity says something about how I’m feeling at the present moment and it’s more accurate than any mood ring I’ve ever worn! I hadn’t given this much thought until I was taking photos of my vanity and noticed the soft washes of color in my shadows, blushes and lipsticks all lined up in a row reflecting my inner mood back at me.
When I looked around more closely I noticed I’ve been reading books that touch my heart, listening to love songs, writing poetry and drawing with water colors. Luckily, I rather enjoy expressing this softer side of me but not to worry, the edge in me is still lurking close by.
Soft and pretty makeup is the (unplanned) theme for this week.
I’ll be showing you up close snaps of the Le Metier de Beauté spring kaleidoscope, Northern Lights. It’s even more beautiful than I expected.
The Dior Croisette Summer 2012 collection had a few items I broke down and said yes to – the new eyegloss is one of those items. And, they also released a few new bronzers too. That’s the Diorskin Healthy Glow powder bronzer in Sunlight. It even comes with it’s own kabuki brush! I’ll show you photos soon.
Although I had planned to pass on it, a blog exchange with a lovely reader who had the Dior 5-Colour Shadows in Swimming Pool applied on her – and she adored the finished look – caused me to place this palette in my shopping cart (thanks Nawi!). You can also see I was undecided on lipsticks for the week so I chose a slew of them.
I’ve been loving the Clarins Prodige Lipgloss (my first) in Nude. The aroma reminds me of a fruity daiquiri…that’s a good thing, right?
Possibly the only bright items on my vanity this week are these Dior polishes from their Color Block collection. Incognito (the nude one on the far right) is much prettier than I expected – a pleasant surprise.
I have to admit, I prefer the makeup choices I make when I don’t give it much thought and instead allow my inner muse to guide the way. Every artist I’ve ever known create their best work when they give the steering wheel to their higher self…something to think about.

Hi Liz, what a lovely article you have yet again posted and thanks for mentioning me in you post I am honored! Now I do hope you love swimming pool I use it with the peachy eye gloss (tip from the make up artist) I passed on the bronzing powder because I have the Aurora palette from last year but after seeing this (and other reviews) I might have to get it anyway. It looks even prettier than lasts year aurora palette. Do you have the aurora palette to compaire?
Hi Nawi! Had it not been for your comment I would have missed out on SP – it’s soft and feminine and I’m adoring it! The Sunlight bronzer looks very much like last years Aurora. When I post about this product (end of this week or beginning of next at the latest) I’ll show side-by-side comparisons. I also have Sunset from last year and that one is definitely the same as this years Sunset bronzer. The new packaging is quite lovely though…
