Making History: Mac Bloggers Obsession Collection
I really have to give MAC kudos for recognizing (and appreciating) the power of blogging…and bloggers.
As the story goes, MAC asked beauty bloggers to submit their ideas for either an eyeshadow or lipgloss (or both). Of the something like 80 entries MAC whittled it down to a final list of nine bloggers whose passion for makeup and vision for the “perfect” shadow or gloss inspired the MAC Bloggers Obsession collection.
There are five lipglasses in the collection – I picked up four – and all carry MAC’s signature vanilla scent. The texture of the Bloggers Obsession glosses are like most lipglasses; sticky. apply smoothly and are very glossy.
•LIPGLASS ($14.50 & limited edition)
Evolution Revolution (created by Karen) is a soft pale peach with multi-colored sparkles. This is the lightest of the lipglasses and has very little color pay. However, the shine and soft glisten as the light bounces off the lip on this one is oh so pretty. I have very pigmented lips and found it neutralized them and made for a nice nude gloss on me.
Caqui (created by Lilly) is bright orange with great color intensity. A little of this one goes a long way. In fact, I prefer to apply this shade with a lip brush versus using the applicator.
Sonoran Rain (created by Aileen) is a gorgeous coral-red with a slight pearlescent finish. I’m not usually a fan of anything too red but I positively swoon over this color. The coral-red pulls warm on me (in MAC-speak I’m NC20-25) and leaves the finest hint of sparkle on the lips – nothing chunky or gritty. Sonoran Rain is my lipglass top-pick from the collection.
All of My Purple Life (created by Patrice) is a deep purple. MAC describes this as having subtle sparkle and on my lips, the sparkle wasn’t detectable. This is my pick for chameleon from the collection because you can intensify or lighten the color to pull various shades of fuchsia, and lavender depending on what you layer All of My Purple Life over.
•Eyeshadows ($14.50 & limited edition)
Hocus Pocus (created by Lianne) is a satin finish. The shade is a dirty gray with a hint of silver pearl. When I first saw this in the pan I thought it was pretty but after swatching and applying I danced a jig. This shade is pure magic – Its silky, applies and blends easily – and is one of my top two picks from the shadow collection.
Jealousy Wakes (created by Christine) is a veluxe pearl finish. One of the prettiest, and most unique, green/teal shadows I’ve seen (and this summer I’m all about teal/green) . This shadow feels a tad gritty but applies easily and has a good pay off. For the past few days, this has been my eyeliner of choice!
Sparkle Neely, Sparkle! (created by Amber) is a velvet finish. My top pick of the shadows from this collection, this rusty brown has slight glitter that looks like a light cascade of stardust settled on your lids. I expected this to have lots of fall out and be tough to work with but nope…it applied like a dream. And, the sparkle is subtle making this a day-appropriate shadow.
Parisian Skies (created by Lesley) is a satin finish. I’m so happy I picked this up because it is an extremely wearable gray/blue shadow. I’ve been rocking this as a crease color and (used wet) as a liner. I fully expect to get lots of mileage from this one in the fall/winter months as well.
As a makeup lover and beauty blogger, it thrills me to know women with a passion for beauty had a hand in the creation of this collection. It makes the collection feel that much more intimate and special. Just think, it’s the first time (that I know of) in which the opinion of everyday women inspired a prestige makeup collection…and a sell out at that**! Talk about paving the way and leaving a legacy…
Wouldn’t you love to create a makeup item? I’d probably develop a lipstick infused with endorphin release ingredients.☺ What about you…what makeup legacy would you wish to leave behind with your creation?

Love these! What lipliner would you put with Evolution Revolution? In Synch? Naked?
Hi Erika!
You can’t go wrong with either liner but I’ve tried it over In Synch and love it. I’ve also tried it over a peach liner (Chanel Peche) and it was so pretty!
Have fun experimenting ;-D
