I’ve already reviewed the bareMinerals READY eyeshadow 2.0 formulation and wanted to show you another one of these magnificent duos.
Since my last review, I’ve learned that these shadows are made with a special proprietary complex known as SeaNutritive Mineral™, combined with cold pressed Borage oil, caffeine and cucumber which offer anti-aging and depuffing benefits.
Borage oil has been used for years as an anti-inflammatory and we’ve all read how cucumber has long been used to depuff tired eyes.
Cosmetic technology is full of surprises and the jury is still out on how these ingredients (and the READY eyeshadow 2.0 formulation) aide in giving the appearance of a softer, smoother, more youthful eye.
But I can say that I found them to apply like the best cream shadow (even though it’s a powder) with intense color saturation and beautiful texture.
In this post, I’m showing you The Showstopper…
Left to Right: Bravo (a light periwinkle lavender), Encore (a frosted plum lavender)

Left to Right: Bravo, Encore, a closer look (photo taken indoors). Drool and double drool!
Availability: Ulta, Sephora, Boutiques
Price: $20US, .1oz
5/5 Smooches: Great color pay off, sophisticated texture, and smooth application. I give it a round of applause!

An Afternoon with Reese, Rob, Elephants and bareMinerals READY eyeshadow 2.o The Top Shelf
I’m spending my afternoon visiting my folks in Oregon. It’s cold, rainy, cooking aromas are wafting through the house (I did not inherit the cooking gene!) and I’ve just finished watching Water for Elephants.
When I heard that Reese Witherspoon and Rob Pattinson (Edward from Twilight) were co-starring as star crossed lovers, I wasn’t sure what to expect. Two hours and twenty minutes later I was in tears wanting to watch the dramatic love story for a second time!
I can only rank this movie from the performances, to the costumes (Reese’s hair, wardrobe and makeup are a sight to see!) as top shelf; a high quality production.
And as you’ve probably read from my previous review of bareMineral READY eyeshadow 2.0 duos, The Vision, these shadows are definitely of a high quality.
In this post, I’m showing you The Top Shelf. This was the first of the READY duos I wore and is the one that sold me on the formulation.
Left to Right: Mixologist (a creamy satin peach), Cognac (a shimmering amber-gold)
Left to Right: Mixologist, Cognac (photo taken in daylight). Look at that texture!
The shadows at a slightly different angle. This was the first duo I wore and I was wowed! They are easy to blend but require little work to achieve a beautiful look. I can’t help but wonder what a duo like this would have looked like on Reese’s baby blues...

Price: $20US, .1oz
5/5 Smooches: Great color pay off, sophisticated texture, and smooth application. What’s not to love?
I reccomend The Top Shelf and I recommend Water for Elephants. It is one of the most beautifully written, styled and produced films I’ve seen in a long time. Have you watched it?
Here’s a photo from one of my favorite scenes. The hair, makeup and especially the dress had me yearning for vintage glamour.

Expensive Silk and Crushed Velvet…it’s not an Illusion or a Mirage, it’s bareMinerals READY shadow 2.0 in The Vision
I have a line-up of reviews from the Dior holiday 2011 collection to share with you but couldn’t wait to show you photos and swatches of this new bareMinerals shadow duo I picked up during the recent Ulta friends & family sale.
First of all, I would scoop up these buttery smooth, turbo pigmented shadows with or without a discount (and that’s saying something).
I’m not sure how the chemists cooked up this formulation of powders but I’ve honestly never felt anything else quite like this. The feel is somewhere between the most expensive silk and the softest crushed velvet.
And as pretty as the colors are (although honestly, in the pans they look just okay) it’s only when you touch and apply that these shadows come to life.
The only downside (for me anyway) is that the packaging is made of the same black rubberized material NARS uses for their compacts. It’s not my favorite packaging concept because while it looks sleek and modern, it catches lint, leaves prints and is difficult to keep clean.
Today I’m sharing photos of The Vision (and boy is it ever!).
On the left is a light mint blue, Illusion. I didn’t expect to like this color but it looks fantastic on the lid. On the Right is Mirage. Aptly named because it is a green-brown duochrome with touches of blue. This shadow is bananas!
I wore these without a primer and they wore impeccably for a full 9 hours!
Left to Right: Illusion, Mirage (indoor lighting used)
Look at Mirage…you’re not seeing things, it’s THAT unusually perfect! (indoor lighting used)
If you haven’t already noticed, I tend to immerse myself in a brand before I get giddy with another. Do you ever do that? This means you’ll be seeing more bareMinerals reviews from me in the very near future.
Availability: Sephora, Ulta, Boutiques
Price: $20US, .1oz
5/5 Smooches: This vision of shadowy goodness deserves every single smooch!
