When you’re preparing a post showcasing the lipsticks you coveted most over an extended period of time, you’ve got to have a strategy.  Without a game plan, you end up with enough lipstick to gift each person in your neighborhood…twice!  Okay, maybe thrice.

And so, at the risk of having my Lipstick Love List resemble one of those really long period novels that start off good giving you the idea you’re going to race through those pages – but then quickly realize you can’t stomach reading one more word – I’ve condensed this post into most used brands.  Whew, that’s one long sentence!

To be clear, I wear loads of brands; MAC, Chanel. YSL, Revlon, you name it.  But for this post, I’ve gathered the lipsticks I’ve used most often; both new and longtime favorites.

Here we go…

Maybelline Color Whisper: I mentioned in my eyeshadow post how much I’ve enjoyed Maybelline in general and these glossy, hydrating, lip balms are no exception.  They don’t wear for hours and hours (they’re balms after all) but are easy to carry, deposit good color and come in a wide range of shades.

Maybelline Color Whisper: L-R Mad for Magenta, Ravishing Pink, I Crave Coral

Maybelline Color Sensational Vivids:  As the name suggests, these lipsticks pack a good color wallop!  If you like a subtle, my lips but better lipstick, this range isn’t for you.  The colors are vibrant.  The wear is long.  And they’ve developed a cult following amongst bright lip loving gals, like me.

Maybelline Color Sensational Vivids: L-R, Brazen Berry, Vivid Rose, Hot Plum, Shocking Coral

Clarins Jolie Rouge: I first tried this lipstick formula when the Spring 2013 collection launched.  What can I say, I adore this lipstick!  The formula feels, juicy.  Although it’s not an opaque shade, Watermelon leaves a just-bitten flush of color on the lips and while there is a good amount of glitter particles in the bullet, on lips it reflects as light.

Milani Color Statement Lipstick: The beauty blogging community went 50 Shades of Hot when Milani released this range of lipsticks which come in shades of Nudes, Pinks, Reds, and Oranges.  From frosts to mattes, Color Statement lipsticks has something for everyone!  The wear is quite good and the matching lip liners (not featured in this post) are a must check too – the nude liners are my favorites.

Milani Color Statement Lipstick: A few of the Pinks.

Milani Color Statement Lipstick: L-R, Pink Frost, Fruit Punch (love this one!), Flamingo Pose (my second favorite), Rose Hip, Hot Pink Rage.

Milani Color Statement Lipstick: A couple from the Nudes/Browns grouping.

Milani Color Statement Lipstick: L-R, Naturally Chic, Nude Creme (if you like nude lipsticks, you must give this one a try.  For about $5, it’s a bargain!)

Dior Addict Lipsticks: When sheer lip balms/lipsticks were all the rage a few years ago, Dior Addict was my formula of choice and I’ve been loyal to the range ever since.  From the shade selection, hydration and the overall incredible way each bullet glides onto the lips.  Dior Addict and Addict Extreme (which offers more pigmentation) is one of the best, and most loved, lipsticks I own.

Dior Addict Lipsticks: A few more recent favorites.  #751 and #771 are from the new Summer 2013  Bird of Paradise collection.

Dior Addict Lipsticks: L-R, Passionnee #771, Spring Ball #343 (Addict Extreme), Exotique #751.  Online, the promo images feature Exotique as a strong peach shade.  It is not.  It’s a sheer pink with only a dab of peach.

Well, that wraps up this edition of the Love List.  I’ve got more to share next week.  What’s your fancy, Body Products or Skincare?  Let me know!

Until next time…

Don’t you just hate being taken for granted?

Like when a colleague expects you to carry a heavier load on a joint project or when someone close to you forgets to treat you with the same courtesies they would someone they’re trying to impress?

Yeah, it stinks but it’s up to you to set proper boundaries and speak up (gracefully) when you are treated in a way that doesn’t honor the great individual you are.

Have I been guilty of taking others for granted?

While I’d like to smile like a Cheshire cat and tell you I have not and would not the fact is that without intending to I have :-(   But, I always go back and do my best to right my wrongs.

Like today for instance…

In the short time I’ve been beauty blogging I’ve shared some great new finds but have not let you in on some of my tried and true beauty black book staples (the shame)!

So today I will not take for granted one of my most coveted beauty items…the Clarins Santal Facial Treatment Oil (formulated for dry/sensitive skin).

Can I say big time, get tingly all over love.

I’ve been using this product for years and can always rely on it to bring my skin back to life when it feels irritated (as in severe rosacea flare ups), dry and in need of repair.

This is a highly aromatic product so if you don’t like the smell of essential plant oils like sandalwood, lavender and cardamom (which combined, help to decongest and soothe the skin) then you won’t appreciate this one.  And in case you’re wondering, hazelnut oil is the ingredient in this product that supports your skins ability to retain moisture with some anti-aging support (like plumping the skin) to boot.

If on the other hand you enjoy the waft of spa-like ingredients you will love the Clarins Santal Facial Treatment Oil.

Here’s how I apply this dreamy night time potion…

1. Pour about a pea sized amount onto the palm of your hand (a little goes a long way – a bottle lasts me for about 6 months)
2. After gently rubbing your hands together to warm up the oil, press the oil onto damp skin (I spray rose water onto my skin before applying the oil but you can use your favorite toner or water) avoiding the eye area
3. If you feel you have applied too much, take a soft tissue and gently blot any excess treatment oil from your skin
4. Give the treatment oil several minutes to settle into your skin then follow-up with your night time moisturizer (if you feel you need more hydration only but you may not need to as this oil delivers a super dose of moisture to the skin)

The combination of soothing aromas and plant oils  will make you feel wrapped in warmth and comfort as you sleep peacefully and awaken with smooth, glowing skin.

Is there an item you simply can’t do without that you’ve neglected to share?  I’m all ears!

Definitely an “on a deserted island” must-have!
