It’s 2012…are you evolving your makeup look?  I just wrote about the Maybelline 2012 calendar featuring their predictions for trends in makeup and it seems neon is making a splash this year.  I’m a makeup daredevil but that’s one trend I might pass on (might).

This week, as I organized my vanity, I started thinking about new beginnings.  Most of us start the new year with promises to be better, be different and do more.  Sometimes though, in our quest to bring in the new year with a bang of resolutions, we forget to cherish the things that work.

Whether it’s a color palette that always makes you look like a million bucks (no matter what) or a way of being that makes you uniquely you, let’s remember to embrace the old while dreaming of the new. ;-)

Beautiful makeup, oh how I adore thee…

I’ve really been loving the Chanel Spring 2012 quad in Eclosion.  My favorite way to wear it  (I know it’s not yet spring but oh well) is the rosey-peach shade on the inner third of my lid, the deepest shade on the outer third and into the crease with a touch of the light beige to blend and the lightest shade as a highlight.  I also bring the deepest shade onto my lower lash line.  Adore!

On the right is a new READY duo from bareMinerals – you know I’m nuts about these shadows, right?

Blushes and more blushes!  There are two from the MAC Daphne Guinness collection and a Physicians Formula happy blush.  My cheeks are set for the week!

I had to show you a close-up of the Physicians Formula blush…it smells as pretty as it looks!  And, I’m trying to get my hands on some new additions to the range.  Will report back when I find them.

On the first day of 2012 I tweeted the following…here’s to living and dreaming boldly.  I thought it was worth repeating. ;-)

Can you believe it’s already Christmas eve, eve?  We wrapped gifts last night, the last of the ornaments are hanging on the tree and we’re waiting in anticipation of “the big day.”  My hubby has been cracking me up finding all sorts of excuses reasons to have me open a gift early.  He’s like a big kid!

Now that most of our holiday preparations are in place I can focus again on 2012 collections.

I’ve had the Eclosion palette from the Chanel Spring 2012 collection for about a week now and am thrilled with the palette.

A striking yet simple color combination.

The shadows aren’t necessarily unique colors but you can’t beat the creamy Chanel texture.

Like most Chanel eyeshadow palettes I own, the shadows don’t initially appear heavily pigmented but they are designed to give you options; 1) a wash of color or 2) buildable show-stopping color.

The combination of soft peach, champagne, beige-taupe, and deep brown-plum (with just a hint of red) make these almost creamy feeling shadows a soft, sophisticated and oh so pretty choice for spring.

Availability: Chanel counters, chanel.com
Price: $58US

Don’t tell hubby but I secretly picked up one of my gifts and gave it a good shake and sniff…I’m lousy at figuring out what’s in the gift-wrapped box. ;-)
