Fashion week has to be one of the most exhilarating times of the year in the style and beauty community.  It’s a time when designers do more than merely show clothes, they tell stories.

From the tops of their gazelle like models heads to the tips of their well manicured toes; hair, makeup, clothes all of it put creatively and thoughtfully together tell a story about women…the bold, the demure and every character in between.

But designers aren’t the only ones showing and telling.  On a day-to-day basis we chose to tell a story about who we are and where we’re at in any given moment of our lives.

Weather we do it consciously or without thought, the clothes we choose, how we do our hair and the choices we make in our makeup application all show the world some part of who we are.

Some say fashion and beauty are merely a mask that a woman (or man) wears to hide the true self showing the world a facade…an illusion versus a true representation of the man or woman inside.

While there’s no question there are those that hide behind what they wear they too tell a story albeit a sad one.  However, to assume everyone that uses fabrics, paints, pots and yes, even hairspray are hiding a deep dark secret is simply…naive.

The tools of expression to tell a story of empowerment, refinement or sass are a-plenty and can come just as easily in a compact as it can from a fountain pen.

So what’s on my mind?  That everyday you show the world something about yourself.  In your home, your community and the world at large you sashay down a catwalk and are always showing and telling a story.

Are you showing the story you want to tell…?

Today I show the world that I’m quirky, young at heart, fear no judgement and make no apologies to those that choose to take offense by my story.

What about you?  What will you show the world today?

P.S. My story telling tools today include Rouge D’Armani lipstick in #406, Inglot winged out gel liner in  #87, darkened brows, pale cheeks, hair swept up into a high loose bun and kicky white peep-toe BCBG wedges.

P.P.S. If you realize you’re not showing the world what you want today, change it up.  Pull out a different lipstick, give your hair a tousle, whatever!  The point is you can change your story and how you tell it any time you please ;-)
