Amidst my lipstick tray of bright pinks and corals there is always at least a few neutrals – I don’t live by color alone! Truth be told, there are times when I’m more comfortable dressing down than I am dressing up. And on those dress down days, Hourglass Femme Rouge Velvet Crème Lipstick in Whisper makes the perfect accessory.
While I was strolling around Sephora I spotted this neutral beauty and was taken aback with this pretty beige neutral lipstick and it’s gorgeous sheen. But I have to admit, it’s the weighty metallic packaging that had my heart aflutter…
See those little shimmer particles? I’m convinced they contribute to the high shine I get from this lipstick. The particles don’t show up on lips as anything more than a glossy finish. Pair the finish with the creamy, hydrating formulation (with just a little slip) and I may just have a new lipstick love.
In the tube and on skin the color is a neutral beige with a rosey hue. On lips, the shade you end up with will greatly depend on the pigmentation of your lips. On me, the shade is a true neutral nude with loads of shine. A glossy finish with a vanilla aroma, I get about two hours wear. (photo taken indoors)
Price: $30/US, .12 oz
Hourglass is truly an elegant range I hope to explore more of this year. Their products are said to be free of parabens, sulfates, and synthetic dyes. If you’ve tried other products from the line, I’d love to know your recommendations…I don’t want to travel this beauty road alone ya’ know.

Another Monday, another new array of products are gently placed on my vanity. I find it soothing to arrange my vanity for the week selecting items I haven’t used in a while or new items that I’ll play with during the week. To complete a look, I’ll pull additional products onto my vanity and by the end of the week, it looks like I committed makeup mayhem!
Come to think of it, I do much the same on my desk… Ah well, such are the habits of the wildly creative.
That’s the Love Cycle mineralize shadow from the MAC Chenman Love and Water collection (the blue duo in the back). If you haven’t checked out this collection I sure hope you do because there may be one or two things that catch your eye.

Every weekend I sit myself down and casually click and read a variety of blogs. They are mostly beauty blogs but as a lover of all things beauty I also frequent art, design and lifestyle blogs.
Starting this week, I thought you might like a glimpse at the blogs that catch my attention each week and spark a new find, a new idea and/or a new way of looking at the beauty around me.
Introducing this weeks Beauty Black Book Best in Blogging Weekend Roundup (how’s that for a mouthful!):
Karla Sugar presented a nice beauty department glance of the Nordstrom Anniversary sale. She tempted me beyond comprehension with her Le Metier de Beaute Rock and Romance nail polish swatches!
Best Things in Beauty put her beauty sleuthing to work and gave a sneak peek of the Giorgio Armani palettes from the fall collection. Holy Armani is this a beautiful collection.
Fab Over Forty reveals that concealer/highlighter pens are not created equal. Her head-to-head (or pen-to-pen) comparison has me going back to a tried and true pen in my makeup kit. She also tempts us (and by us I mean me!) with a look at the Dior Blue Tie fall collection review and swatches. I swoon.
The Beauty Look Book did a fun look back at Chanel’s nail polish releases for the past five fall collections. She has a wonderful archive!
Daly Beauty showed us how to feel beautiful while we “glow.” Like Jane, I too believe that “luxury in the little things we do for ourselves is a good thing.”
For the Love of Design showcases pops of fuchsia outdoors! These photos are stunning, inspiring and fantastic in every way…spoken as a true lover of hot pink!
This That Beauty gave us the low down on a R-evolutionary lash product from Hourglass – a top coat for lashes that exaggerates the lash line to mimic the look of faux lashes. I can’t get to Sephora fast enough!
The gals at Beauty Bets shared their secret recipe for sexy, beachy, wind-swept hair. I’m not a DIY girl but this sea salt spray is beach-alicious.
How do you set your foundation, keep shine at bay AND avoid looking overly powdered in hot summer months? 25fLondon shares a MAC vs. Chanel comparison in “Chanel Loose Powder: MAC MSFN’S Classy Older Sister.”
And speaking of Chanel, they’re having quite a run what with two collection releases and the Nordstrom exclusive collection. Whew! Be sure to check out the Byzance de Chanel collection (a gem of the week) review from yours truly..my Chanel cup runeth over (in a good way!).
