You know how much I adore Marc Jacobs fragrances. The whimsical and quirky packaging always grab my attention (first) and the juice in the bottle is pretty darned good. His fragrances aren’t core shakers but they are playful, girly and accessible.
When I heard Marc Jacobs was partnering with Sephora to launch a makeup collection later this year, I immediately hoped a) the products would include feminine, playful shades and b) the packaging would reflect the whimsy I’ve grown to appreciate from his fragrances.
For now, it sounds like the makeup wheels are still turning because just last week Marc was quoted as saying:
“I see makeup, fragrance — everything, really — as an opportunity. The idea of choosing a color for your lip, or an eyeliner — it’s just such a delight. The ritual of waking up and making those choices is something people really enjoy. We currently are working on defining what Marc Jacobs cosmetics will be, what they’ll say, what makes them distinctive. I think that will take some time, but the first meeting was good.”
Marc Jacobs is quite a personality and I am most anxious to see how he’ll inspire and entertain us with his makeup collection (the promo images are bound to be colorful). Some are wondering if his collection will be reminiscent of Tom Ford’s launch . I suspect that his name alone (at least initially) will tire out cash registers. Not to mention, a fella’ who takes a bow at the end of his fashion shows dressed in a skirt is bound to also deliver some fun!
