There’s rarely a collection Illamasqua has launched that I don’t like and Theatre of the Nameless is no exception. The artistry of Alex Box (my artistic shero) always has me inspired and yearning to translate her runway work into real-way looks.
When I heard that the new collection included a new nail varnish texture my interest was instantly piqued. And when they described the texture like that of rubber I thought…how kinky.
Four nail varnishes were included with the Theatre of the Nameless collection and I picked up three:

•Faux Pas – a beautiful blue violet (my favorite color of the bunch)
•Kink – a vibrant deep forest green
•Vice – a clear, deep berry
Like most Illamasqua nail varnishes, the wear is outstanding. Two coats and I’m out the door with streak free, glistening nails. I like to change my polish every one to one and a half weeks and I have little to no chipping.

The finish on the new varnishes is unusual because on nails, it looks like a glossy matte. I realize they should either be matte or glossy but Illamasqua has managed to give us the sheen of a glossy polish with a slight matte texture.
Together, they do have the affect of rubber – I inspected the texture of my yoga ball for comparison and sure enough, the new nail varnish isn’t that dissimilar in finish. How did they do this?!? They’re not calling this collection Theatre of the Nameless for nothing!
In terms of packaging, the bottles are glass (as with all Illamaqua polishes) and the cap is a black rubberized material.
I’m very pleased with the unique new texture (although I am usually drawn to a high shine polish it’s nice to have an alternative finish in my nail wardrobe) and am anxiously awaiting their next invention.

So what’s with the headline of this post you wonder? Well, I was disco dancing to the Gap Band and it just so happened that Burn Rubber on Me was playing while I was writing this post. Get it…rubber finish on the polish, burn rubber on the radio? Okay, okay, maybe it’s a stretch but you can’t deny this song has a pedal to the metal beat!
